Restorative Dentistry at Smile Designers of Las Vegas - Dental Implants, Crowns, Bridges, and More

In addition to offering a wide array of cosmetic procedures, Dr. Michael Duboff also performs restorative dentistry at his Las Vegas practice. Dental implants, dental crowns, and dental bridges are just some of the tools he uses to restore function and beauty to his patients' smiles. Dr. Duboff's skill allows him to come up with solutions to even the most challenging dental problems.

Dental Crowns

For badly damaged or decayed teeth, our Las Vegas practice offers dental crown treatment. Crowns are tooth-shaped caps that are placed over teeth to improve their function and appearance. A dental crown is typically used when a tooth is so damaged that filling materials cannot make it strong enough. At Smile Designers of Las Vegas, a dental crown can also be placed on adjacent teeth to hold a bridge in place. Since the crowns we use are made of porcelain, they are very durable and look like natural teeth.

To make room for a dental crown, the dentist at our Las Vegas practice must first file down the tooth. He then takes an impression of the tooth and surrounding teeth. Until a permanent porcelain crown is created, a temporary acrylic crown will be placed on the tooth. Patients are asked to return to our Las Vegas office once the permanent dental crown is ready. When a tooth is extremely damaged, Dr. Duboff may perform a root canal before placing a crown.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge can be used to fill a gap created by a missing tooth. It consists of two crowns on either side of the gap, and an artificial tooth in between. Before placing a dental bridge, our Las Vegas dentist first files down the teeth and takes impressions in order to make crowns. Once the crowns are ready, an artificial tooth is bonded to them and the entire bridge is placed in the patient's mouth. When creating a dental bridge, Smile Designers of Las Vegas takes great care to ensure that the bridge is completely customized and fits comfortably and securely. After all, our goal is for you to be able to smile with confidence!

Dental Implants

For patients looking for a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth, Smile Designers of Las Vegas offers dental implants. Because they are surgically placed directly into the jaw, dental implants have the appearance and function of natural teeth. Although the process of placing implants can take several months, many Las Vegas patients find that the benefits of dental implants make them well worth the time investment.

To ensure that you experience the best possible results, our Las Vegas practice works with talented oral surgeons to carry out the dental implant process. These surgeons perform the actual implant procedure under local anesthetic. Once dental implants have been successfully placed, bone must be given time to grow and fuse around the implant, a process that can take up to six months. Once the bone has fused, Smile Designers of Las Vegas will complete the dental implant process by fitting artificial teeth, along with any necessary dentures and bridges, in the mouth.

Dental implants have proven to be safe and effective, and can last for years with standard oral hygiene and regular dental visits. If you are missing one or more of your natural teeth, we invite you to contact Smile Designers of Las Vegas to find out more about dental implants.

Dentures

Whether you are a long-time or a first-time denture wearer, Dr. Duboff offers high quality, custom-made dentures to meet your individual needs. He is adept at providing patients with either full or partial dentures that are strong, comfortable, and natural looking. Visit Smile Designers of Las Vegas for dentures that will improve your oral health and allow you to speak and eat with ease.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are tooth-colored fillings that provide more support than a standard filling, but not as much as a full crown. They can be used on teeth in need of repair, or to replace silver fillings. Though similar, inlays and onlays differ slightly in the amount of support they provide to a tooth. Inlays are comparable to fillings because they lie completely within the cusps on the chewing surface of a tooth. Onlays, sometimes called partial crowns, are more extensive and cover one or more cusps.

Placing an inlay or onlay requires two visits to our general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry practice in Las Vegas. On the first visit, we will remove decay (and your old filling, if present) and take an impression of your teeth, which will be used to make your inlay or onlay. A temporary filling will then be placed to protect your tooth. During your second visit to our office, we will remove the temporary filling and replace it with the permanent inlay or onlay. With proper dental care, your inlay or onlay should last much longer than a traditional filling - up to 30 years.

Periodontal Care (Treatment for Gums)

Smile Designers of Las Vegas believes that gum care is an important aspect of both preventative and restorative dentistry. Our dental practice stresses the importance of regular exams and professional cleanings to help minimize the risk of gum disease. For patients who show early signs of gum disease, Dr. Duboff can help bring the problem under control and prevent it from becoming worse. Whether or not you are currently experiencing problems with your gums, we encourage you to contact our Las Vegas practice to schedule a periodontal exam.

Restorative Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

If the nerves and blood vessels of a tooth are damaged beyond repair, Dr. Duboff can perform a root canal to save the tooth. Before performing the procedure, he will first numb the area around the damaged tooth to minimize discomfort. He will then drill through the tooth and remove some of the diseased pulp from inside. After cleaning the empty canal with an antiseptic solution, Dr. Duboff will fill it with a flexible plastic material and cover it with a temporary filling. Once there is no sign of infection, he will place a crown or permanent filling over the tooth. When performing a root canal, Dr. Duboff makes your comfort a priority. Most patients who undergo this restorative dentistry procedure at our Las Vegas office find that it is much more comfortable and pain-free than they expected.
